The roads and pavements in the neighbourhood of Puskás Ferenc Stadium are being renovated by Grabarics Út és Közmű Kft. Work started on 3 August and completion is expected in the first half of October.
The surface renovation includes a 1-km section of Dózsa György Road from the Kerepesi Road intersection to the Thököly Road intersection. On this road section, the wearing course was replaced in a 4-cm thickness on 12,000 m2.
As a part of the project, a pavement surface of 2,200 m2 was built on Dózsa György Road including the section between the ticket offices and the entry gates where a 400-m section received mastic asphalt covering. The contractor performs the reconstruction of the 200-m section of pavement and bicycle path between the ticket offices and the entry gates on Stefánia Road.
During the one-week period remaining from the project, some traffic islands will be realized, the final traffic technology elements will be installed, road markings painted and pavements asphalted. Apart from these, a new, accessible pedestrian crossing with tactile covering will also be built which may be used by visually impaired persons as well.
Because of the resurfacing work, the traffic pattern has changed by narrowing the 2x2 lanes traffic to 2x1, the existing bus parking places will remain the same, but, all along the stadium side, parking places will be realized, and this section will receive bicycle tracks according to the traffic direction on both sides, along the lanes.
