The Buda Hospital of the Order of Charity will be an advanced institute adjusted to the demands of the 21st century after the completion of its reconstruction and the construction of two new wings – said the minister of national economy on the press conference held on 16.02.2018.

The reconstructed and expanded Buda Hospital of the Order of Charity will be an institute of high-standard outfit that corresponds to the expectations of the inhabitants of Buda and of the capital city in every respect – emphasized Mihály Varga.

The MP of districts II and III of Budapest said on the press conference held together with Imre Kozma, head of the Nursing Order of Charity in Hungary, and Zsolt Láng, the mayor of district II: special attention is given to the development of church hospitals under the Healthy Budapest Program. The improvement of the conditions of patient care, also with respect to the building as historical monument, requires comprehensive architectural intervention – emphasized Mihály Varga. He added: the development is not unprecedented, financed by EU funds the Order has continuously modernized its facilities in the recent years. Nevertheless, projects similar to the current one have not yet implemented in the Hungarian history of the Order – put the minister.

As a result of the collaboration of the two institutions, in the course of the current development a new unit will be established, namely the family center of Christian spirituality – informed Mihály Varga. As he said: the gynecological-andrology-family planning center of the initiative will function in the Buda Hospital of the Order of Charity while its obstetric and neonatal department in the Bethesda Hospital. The government will add HUF 12.9 billion HUF to the total project costs of nearly 21 billion HUF, while the Order of Charity is going to provide the rest of the development costs of about 8 billion HUF from its own resources – has been stated on the conference.

The renewal and expansion of the Frankel Leo street block of the Hospital of the Order of Charity is an important moment in the life of the district, as well – reminded Zsolt Láng and added that several other projects will also be launched concerning health care in cooperation with the local government and with the support of the central government in the near future.

The Buda Hospital of the Order of Charity plays a very important role in the medical care of the inhabitants of Budapest and of district II. Data show that 270 thousand people visit 33 types of specialized outpatient consultations each year, while the number of inpatients has reached 17 thousand.
